This is for the Dog Moms

For all of you millennial dog moms out there - I see you and 100% understand that your pup (or pups) are an absolute NON negotiable for your wedding day. This is for you!

As I said in my last blog post, decide what your priorities and non-negotiables are before choosing your venue and any of your vendors. This may certainly be your dog being there as your witness! The last thing you want to do is end up having to choose between someone you’ve already put down a deposit with and having your best friend there with you day of. This starts with venue obviously, but you would be surprised how many vendors of all kinds just don’t love your furry friend as much as you do.

Within that process though…take an honest look down at your dog and ask yourself, are they going to be an addition to my day or a subtraction. And…I know I know, who doesn’t want Tuna (my 4 month old crazy thing biting my toes as I type this) jumping all over them in their brand new cocktail dress? But he just wouldn’t make the cut.

Once you know they are a must - book a venue that gives you the go ahead, here are a few of the

Your next step, is to make a plan on how to ensure your four legged pal(s) can attend but in a safe way that doesn’t take away from anyone else’s experience by causing them to have to take your dog home or to a hotel, wrangle them from eating your cake or the worst….anyone to step in anything they don’t want to.

The solution to this is a plus one for your dog - a pet attendant! If you’re anything like me this sounds like an absolute dream job - you get to be at wedding ceremonies picture me crying at the back EVERY time and then take the best looking guest home with you (couldn’t help myself there) and you are correct, it’s as amazing as it sounds. Here are some of the best in the business….

And finally, hire a team of pros who are dog people. They are going to be with you and them all day, if they aren’t cool with a little lickins, dog hair or baby talk to get the face you see above - does that vendor fit your wedding? Probs not. These are the people I think of when I think of a dog friendly wedding…
